Congratulations to Constructing Modern Knowledge guest speaker, Charlie Rosen, for winning the 2023 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Orchestrations with his collaborator Bryan Carter! Charlie is being recognized for his orchestrations for the hit Broadway musical, “Some Like it Hot.”
We are over the moon that this sensational artist will be a guest speaker at Constructing Modern Knowledge 2023. Our goal is for participants to spend time with some of the most brilliant, talented, accomplished people on earth, rather than listen to a speech. Charlie can’t wait to see the amazing projects undertaken by the educators participating in CMK!
Even more awards
This award season, Charlie’s work is also nominated for Drama Desk and Tony Awards. In fact, this is Charlie’s third consecutive year of being nominated for the best orchestration Tony Award – three nominations in three straight years! Keep your fingers crossed for Charlie during the Tony Awards on June 11th!
By the age of 32, Charlie already earned half of an EGOT with a Grammy and Tony Award in 2022! But that’s not all. Be sure to check out his other remarkable accomplishments and projects here.
Recently, CMK faculty member Brian Smith and I met Charlie at a once-in-a-lifetime event at a New York City cabaret. Charlie, Bryan, the orchestra, cast members, and the composers of the new musical, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman performed “trunk songs,” the numbers that were cut from the Broadway show for one time only. “Some Like it Cut!” was hilarious and musical perfection.
There are other remarkable guest speakers joining educators at Constructing Modern Knowledge. Check them out.
There is a little over a month left before Constructing Modern Knowledge 2023. Do not miss the learning adventure of the year!
