Constructing Modern Knowledge, July 10-13, 2018 is a minds-on institute for educators committed to creativity, collaboration and computing. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in intensive computer-rich project development with peers and a world-class faculty. Inspirational guest speakers and social events round out the fantastic event.

Rather than spend days listening to a series of speakers, Constructing Modern Knowledge is about action. Attendees work and interact with educational experts concerned with maximizing the potential of every learner.

While our outstanding faculty is comprised of educational pioneers, bestselling authors and inventors of educational technologies we depend on, the real power of Constructing Modern Knowledge emerges from the collaborative project development of participants.

Each day’s program consists of a discussion of powerful ideas, mini tutorials on-demand, immersive learning adventures designed to challenge one’s thinking, substantial time for project work and a reflection period.

We listened to our participants and added two new features to CMK 2017.

  1. Optional Introduction to Learning with Electronics full-day pre-institute workshop (additional fee)
  2. Optional morning tutorials requested by participant

The Big Night Out in Boston will begin with a reception at the world-famous MIT Media Lab (tentative).

“CMK was absolutely one of the best learning experiences of my career as an educator. The focused, intense, and creative learning that I experienced at this workshop was unparalleled in my previous professional development opportunities.” – Jeff Ellenbogen (Lafayette, Colorado)

This year’s Constructing Modern Knowledge Big Night in the City, features an exciting reception at the MIT Media Lab, before you head out and explore the Boston area. Our institute dinner will once again be at an all-you-can-eat Brazilian churrascaria. Participants have access to a library of books, cutting-edge electronics, art supplies, tools, toys, craft materials, and hopefully anything else to support their project-based learning.

While the rest of the country is sweltering from the summer heat, Manchester (known to the locals as “Manch Vegas”), NH is cool, quaint and filled with great restaurants.
